Hurricane Katrina for most of us was merely a news item. For those directly in it's path, it was an unparalleled catastrophe. The impact of looking in any given direction and seeing the remnants of what was the collective life of the residents of Mississippi's Gulf Coast defies description in words. Even the photographs fail to convey the extent of the storm's destruction.
